Our overseas projects

Burkina Faso

In Burkina Faso, through our project 'Strengthening Grassroots Disabled People’s Organisations' we are working to strengthen the capacity of grassroots disabled people’s organisations and through income generating activities increase the level of income of their members.

Burkina Faso is the second poorest country in the world. Over 13% of the population (that’s at least 1.5 million people) have some form of disability, much of it preventable.

Bolivia

In Bolivia, we promote the Inclusion of People with Disabilities in local and national development processes.

The poorest country in South America, Bolivia’s disabled people represent 15% of the population or 1.35 million people. It is estimated that 70% of them live in dire poverty on less than €2 a day.

Brazil

In Brazil, we help promote STI/HIV/AIDS prevention and sexual and reproductive health and rights in the north and northeast regions.

Brazil has some of the highest levels of inequality in the world. There are approximately 25 million Brazilians with disabilities, of whom 80% live in abject poverty. In the north and north east of the country alone, there are almost 9 million people with disabilities. That’s about 16.8% of the population. In these regions, almost two-thirds of people live on less than €1 a day.
