Jamia
Wednesday 9th December 2009
Dean's Park, York Minster
Over 400 people joined us for
Jamia - making our festival-style celebration of 20 years of children's rights a day to remember.
Our giant
PapaKata teepees looked stunning next to York Minster, and our programme of global arts and performances kept audiences entertained, clapping, singing and dancing all day long.
The Very Reverend Keith Jones, Dean of York, said:
"We at the Minster are delighted to welcome and celebrate the children of the world by giving a setting for Jamia. Real progress in this dangerous world is partly measured by our care of children, who too often suffer unseen."
