GTP+ / The Group of Workers in PositHIVe Prevention
For over 10 years, GTP+ has encouraged activities and education designed to prevent the spread of HIV, Aids, and sexually-transmitted infections. They often use theatre and drama to engage people.
They aim to improve understanding about the rights of HIV-positive people, and run projects to help those living with HIV/Aids integrate into society – especially by finding work or accommodation.

State of Amazonas HIV/Aids/STI Programme
The State Programme works across the 62 municipalities of Amazonas State to tackle the increasing rates of HIV, Aids and sexually-transmitted infections.
It aims to improve healthcare so that people can receive diagnosis and better treatment for HIV/Aids/STIs. They also aim to prevent the increase of these diseases by educating people about their sexual and reproductive health.

The Project works with approximately 30,000 people, mainly in isolated rural areas. Project workers visit hard-to-reach communities – often arriving on the Amazon River in a huge boat – to deliver community development activities in health, community life, forest economy, education, culture and communication.
Using art, play and communications techniques, the Project helps communities tackle their most pressing needs by developing simple solutions together.

This pioneering organisation challenges the macho nature of Brazilian society by promoting public policy that aims to abolish gender inequality. It is the first NGO in Latin America to work with men and boys from the perspective of gender.
PAPAI actively engage men and young people from low income communities in the fight for gender equality. Their work covers 4 key areas: young men and healthcare; fatherhood, care-giving and reproductive rights; men and gendered violence; sexual diversity as a human right.

Conselho Nacional dos Seringueiros (CNS) / National Council of Rubber-tappers
This national organisation represents the people working in Brazil’s forests: rubber-tappers, babaçu coconut breakers, nut collectors, fishermen and women, and small-hold farmers. What unites them is the fight to improve the quality of life, the fight for sustainable use of natural resources in the Amazon rainforest, and the right to land.

Formed by young professionals working in education, communications, psychology and the arts, Apôitchá is an NGO that aims to improve the quality of life for vulnerable children and young people of Lucena, Paraíba city.
Associação Quilombola de Conceição das Crioulas (AQCC) / Association of the Quilombola Creoles
The Association fights for the rights of communities who are descended from African slaves. These marginalised people are frequently denied access to good quality farming land, and education.
Centro de Educação Comunitária Rural (CECOR) / Community Rural Education Centre
CECOR provides rural communities with technical training in farming vegetables and animals in a region that has a harsh, semi-arid climate.
Centro de Habilitação e Apoio ao Pequeno Agricultor do Araripe (CHAPADA) / Empowerment and Support Centre for Small-farmers in Araripe
CHAPADA works in the semi-arid region of the Araripe to promote agro-ecology and entrepreneurship on small-scale farms.
They focus on youth leadership and gender equality.
Federacao Nacional de Educacao e Integracao dos Surdos (FENEIS) / National Federation for the Education and Integration
of the Deaf
The primary organisation for deaf people in Brazil, FENEIS works to improve education, employment, and interpreting services.
The association also promotes better awareness of deaf culture in society, and provides training in sign language.

The network organises the fight of rural women in 25 different Latin American and Caribbean countries to access and possess their own land, to promote the right to public water and free use of natural resources, and to defend the rights of the women working in rural areas of Latin America.

This alliance between international development agencies and Brazilian private institutes and foundations promotes the sustainability of rights-based civil society organisations working in Brazil.
